Mingyu Chen had been studying and working in NCIC since 1995. NCIC has a history over ten years to  build the most advanced high performance computer in China. He was a member of the Dawning 2000, Dawning 3000 and Dawning 4000L project, while his works varies from cluster management software, network load balancer, internet server software to application benchmark etc. During 2000~2002 he left NCIC and worked in the Information security lab for a period studying cryptography application and intrusion detection etc. Now his work focus on the next generation of high performance computer that will be build by NCIC in future.

Dynamic Self-organized Architecture based on Grid-componet(DSAG)

DSAG is new architecture for high performance computing. It is quite different from the current computational grid.

In DSAG the minimal units of a distributed environment are not indepedent computers but independent components called grid-components.Grid-component has two characters: First it is a functional unit but not complete computer, eg. hard disk, CPU, RAM bank. Second it is grid-accessable,that is it can be directly accessed via  network.  A i-SCSI disk is a good example.

Just as a computer is composed by many functional component. A grid-computer can be composed with grid-components. The difference is a grid computer can be composed and decomposed dynamicly. There will not be a physical computer exist any longer. A dynamic grid computer can be self-organized for certain application and release all resources for other applications after . A more interesting thing is that the architecture of a DSAG computer need not to be fixed. It can be adjusted as the application required. So it will be "architecture for application" in contrast to  "application for architecture" which challenge many application programmers ever since.

DSAG may sound a bit ambitious. But with the fast developing of optical high speed network, the bandwith to access remote component will soon come to the same level of internal interconnection. It is not a question of change, but a question of how it will change.

The DSAG  group  started since Feb. 2003.

Fine-Grained Computation Trading Model(FGCTM)

Various economic model for grid environment has been studied in recent days. However the basic precondition of those model is a matured grid market already exist where computation can be bartered and traded as normal commodities through the Internet. Although electronic commerce has been developed rapidly these days, we can not see in the near future that it can get matured enough to deal with all those security, usability, validity, creditability and other problems. FGCS is a new way for computation economy. The basic idea is that as a commodity computation has a unique feature: divisibility. So we can divide a trading process into fine grain to reduce the risk in an inorganized and undependable environment. Thus bring a new way toward the implementation of large scale inorganized computational grid even without the need for an electronic commerce system or trusted third party notary.

FGCTM is only a idea now. A group is under construction.
